These Group Ground Rules exist to encourage a healthy group that provides a safe space for everyone to grow in being real with Self, Others, and God.
INSTRUCTIONS
In your group, read each Ground Rule out loud and then affirm it together.
Optional: Take time to go through the Discussion Questions down below.
ATTENDANCE. Group meetings and starting times will be given priority. If we are unable to attend or are running late, we will message the leader.
PARTICIPATION. Each person is encouraged to share and no one dominates the conversation. We will assist each other in making the group a meaningful experience.
AUTHENTICITY. We should work at creating a safe space where we can be real. Our group environment should encourage openness and transparency.
RESPECT. We will avoid gossip and never saying anything that would embarrass other members of the group.
LISTENING. We will work hard to understand what others are communicating. We will do our best to be sure everyone feels heard.
SPIRITUAL DIRECTION. We will promote each other’s spiritual growth by encouraging next steps in our journeys.
CONFIDENTIALITY. In order to promote a loving environment and build trusting relationships, whatever is shared in confidence, let’s keep it here.
1. In other relationships, how have you felt when others violated these Ground Rules? Quick Reminder: The goal is to reflect on your feelings to encourage empathy and humility, it is not to facilitate complaining or gossiping about other people or groups.
2. Which Ground Rule do you think will be the most challenging for you to uphold?
3. Do you agree to abide by and honor these Ground Rules?
4. If you have issues with any of these, will you commit to bringing it to the Group Leader?
