Join us for an interactive hangout for men — food, games, competitions, big giveaways with some interactive fun like classic cars, BBQ station, Graffiti artist, haircuts and more. In addition to all the fun, we are bringing in a guest speaker: Justice Coleman. He’s a friend of Pastor Matt’s, leads a thriving church in L.A., has a passion for winning men to Jesus, and yes — he’s also a jiu-jitsu champion. This guy is the real deal.

SC Men Spotlight: Ruben Beltran

Ruben is one of the men in our church whose life has been radically transformed since the day he said “YES” to God. We recently asked Ruben to share a bit of his journey here at Sandals Church.

Q: What led you to where you are now?
A: I grew up knowing about God but never truly knowing Him. My life was driven by my own plans, and I often pushed Him to the sidelines. Eventually, I reached a season where nothing seemed to work, my heart felt empty, and my mistakes kept piling up. I realized I couldn’t keep pretending everything was fine. That’s when I got real with God — confessing my brokenness and asking Him to lead my life. That moment of surrender completely changed my direction… and my life forever.

Q: What brought you to Sandals Church, and what keeps you coming back?
A: My wife invited me to Sandals Church during a time when I was searching for something real. From the moment I walked in, I sensed this was a place where people were honest about their struggles but still deeply committed to following Jesus. The vision of being real resonated with me, and the powerful teaching and genuine community keep me coming back week after week — serving alongside some incredible men of God.

Q: How has your life changed since beginning your discipleship journey here?
A: Since starting my discipleship journey, God has been transforming both my heart and my habits. I took the step of baptism to publicly declare my faith, began serving, and committed to studying His Word regularly. One of the greatest joys of my life was baptizing my own family. I’ve learned that discipleship isn’t just about going to church — it’s about letting God shape every part of my life.Today, Ruben serves faithfully on our Next Steps Team and the Men’s Ministry Leadership Team, becoming a powerful example of what it means to be a disciple and lead a family spiritually.
